Ray Succre
"I’ve been writing for about 12 years and have begun publishing my poetry while trying to broaden myself as a poet and playwright. I am now beginning to send my work out at a more social level. I currently live on the southern Oregon coast with my wife, Maisy (we’ve just become parents), and I write each day, being very driven to better myself and my works. I have been published in Nthposition, Art Times, and In Posse Review, as well as others both here and abroad, in print and electronic."
Goodbye Goodbye
Spoon polishers, order takers,
and then spinning tops wrapped
in hostess uniforms–
These under the crashing night of
herons and rocks thrown high.
Near the reds of brake lights,
on a bench set for smokers,
outside in cold, you
smoke a straight, make
Autumn-colored spit.
The section tracklight flickers.
Bright, off black, bright and
then you vanish from the Earth,
no longer there but for
a huff of phantom smoke and steam
left above sparks blown low.
